About these numbers

  • Texas has no limits on what candidates can take, so most money goes straight to the campaigns. Outside spending here is direct campaign expenditures from the Texas Ethics Commission’s data through Oct. 29: spending each group listed as benefiting a candidate since the March 3 primary. Texas reports name who the spending benefits, not whether it supports or attacks, so spending against one candidate is listed as benefiting the other. Groups also listed $784,700 as benefiting Hinojosa and $26,478 as benefiting Abbott together with other candidates on a slate, such as canvassing and voter guides for a ticket. Those amounts aren’t split among the candidates, so they aren’t in the table. Contributions and in-kind gifts to the campaigns are left out.
  • Texas reports cover one period at a time. These figures add the 30-day and 8-day reports, which run from July 1 through Oct. 24.
  • Next report: January semiannual report, covering through Dec. 31, 2026, due Jan. 15, 2027. We’ll update this page once it’s filed.
  • Governor campaigns file with the state, not the FEC, so these numbers come from the Texas Ethics Commission (opens in a new tab) and are read by hand after each state deadline, so a new filing can take a few days to show up here. National groups like the Republican and Democratic Governors Associations report to the IRS; their transfers are listed when they appear in state or IRS filings.
